07/29/2010 CanWEA and New Brunswick to Partner for a Wind Energy Seminar in Moncton Next September
Ottawa, July 29 2010 – The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) and the New Brunswick government will partner for the organization of a wind energy seminar on September 22-23 2010 in Moncton, NB. Entitled “Growing Wind in Atlantic Canada: Cooperative Solutions for Regional and Export Opportunities”, the seminar will look at solutions to maximize the development of the wind industry in the Atlantic region as provinces seek to develop wind and reap the social, economic and environmental benefits that this development brings.
“The Atlantic Provinces have some of the best wind resources in the world, and they sit right next to the U.S. Northeast, an area with a tremendous demand for green energy” says CanWEA President Robert Hornung. “This seminar will look at ways that increased regional cooperation can help wind play a larger role not only in satisfying growing Atlantic energy demand, but also in accessing US green power markets and the huge economic opportunities they represent.”
The seminar comes at a critical time as momentum builds towards greater cooperation in the region on energy issues, and as New Brunswick develops as an “energy hub” for Atlantic Canada.
“We are very happy to partner with the Government of New Brunswick in organizing this event and I would like to thank Minister Jack Keir for his continued leadership in driving provincial and regional wind energy development”, concluded Mr. Hornung.
