OTTAWA, Ontario, September 27, 2007 – More than 1200 delegates and 160 exhibitors will gather together in Quebec City next week to discuss Canada’s flourishing wind energy market, at CanWEA’s 23rd Annual Conference and Trade Show in Quebec City - Sunday, September 30th to Wednesday, October 3, 2007.

With the growing interest in small wind systems, particularly in Quebec where the province’s energy strategy aims to promote small wind in the northern and First Nations communities, CanWEA kicks-off the conference with its sessions on Small Wind Energy Systems, Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the Hilton Hotel, 1100 Rene Levesque East. Media can register from 7:30 to 9:00 .a.m.

Monday, October 1, 2007 takes the conference to the Quebec Conference Centre, where the opening plenary features Joyce McLean, CanWEA Board Member and Chair of the panel including The Honourable Claude Béchard, Quebec Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife, André Boulanger, President, Hydro- Québec Distribution, and CanWEA President, Robert Hornung. This opening session will be webcast live and available for viewing on the CanWEA website, www.canwea.ca .

Also on Monday, Robert Hornung, CanWEA President chairs the Federal Policy Plenary with guests Jimmy Royer, Natural Resources Canada and Suzanne Loney, Environment Canada.

The Honourable Gary Lunn, Federal Minister of Natural Resources, will address the conference on October 2nd. That evening CanWEA’S Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony, sponsored by TransAlta Wind, features keynote speaker Mr. Steve Sawyer, Secretary General of the Global Wind Energy Council.
