Cutting-edge International Wind-Radar Forum illuminates solutions and advances
Ottawa, ONTARIO - June 28, 2011 – The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA), in collaboration with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), is hosting the first ever International Wind and Radar Forum in Ottawa June 28-29 to share ideas and experiences for the successful interaction of wind turbines and radar equipment.
Senior government officials, consultants, and radar solution providers will gather with wind project developers and other industry stakeholders from Canada, the U.S. and Europe to analyze current policies, technology and operational tools, as well as emerging research in radar and wind mitigation.
“This event will provide an exclusive opportunity for government and industry stakeholders from around the world to gather and openly share proficiencies and workable solutions for the successful interaction of wind turbines and radar equipment,” said Robert Hornung, president of CanWEA. “As a responsible industry, we continually seek out new and innovative ways to ensure wind energy is a reliable partner with other technologies.”
“The forum is serving to further the existing relationship between key regulatory and industry players, while promoting an international dialogue about responsible, effective tools designed to identify and address any potential conflicts between wind energy and radar,” said Tom Vinson, Senior Director of Federal Regulatory Affairs, AWEA.
Keynote speaker, Simon Christian, United Kingdom Director for Scottish Power Renewables, will share his experience with wind farm development. A series of panels and presentations in the areas of operations, research & development, mitigation and government policy are featured.
