CanWEA’s 23rd Annual Conference and Trade Show Concludes; Awards Presented at Gala Celebration
The Canadian Wind Energy Association today concluded its 23rd Annual Conference and Trade Show. The closing plenary discussion ‘Global Developments in Wind and their Impact on Canada’ provided an excellent wrap up to discussions held during the previous conference days.

Wind energy industry welcomes long-term system plan that encourages wind, but calls for short-term action to address implementation barriers
The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) applauds the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in its filing of the Integrated Power System Plan (IPSP) with the Ontario Energy Board today. The IPSP provides a roadmap for the province’s power and infrastructure needs over the next 20 years.

Clearing the Air on Wind Energy
Canada’s wind energy industry is experiencing remarkable growth. This is a good thing, since wind energy is an important part of a clean, renewable and sustainable energy future. Wind energy produces no air pollution, contributing to better air quality for everyone; and also produces no greenhouse gas emissions, making it an important component of our efforts to address climate change.

2006 A Record Breaking Year for the Global Wind Energy Industry with Canada now ranking 12th in the World for Total Installed Wind Energy Capacity

Global wind energy markets continue to boom – 2006 another record year
The booming wind energy markets around the world exceeded expectations in 2006, with the sector experiencing yet another record year. On the day of the publication of the 4th Assessment Report on Climate Change by the IPCC, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) released its annual figures for 2006.
