CanWEA Seminar Series

Emerging opportunities in Quebec’s wind energy supply chain
Montreal, Quebec
November 9-10, 2009

French and English translation services will be available for all sessions.

Wind energy represents major industrial development opportunities for Quebec and Canada. Between now and 2020, it is estimated that $1 trillion will be invested in new wind energy facilities worldwide and that more than 1.75 million jobs will be created in this rapidly growing industry. The North American market will not escape this growing trend. This has created a strong demand in a broad range of industries such as construction, manufacturing, transportation, engineering, operations and maintenance.

In Quebec, more than 4,000 MW of wind energy will be produced between now and 2015, representing a total investment of nearly $10 billion. Hundreds of jobs will be created, which will provide major economic benefits for a number of Quebec regions. How can we ensure that Quebec companies will benefit from this rapid development of the wind industry?

This event, taking place over one and a half days, is organized by the Canadian Wind Energy Association in collaboration with the ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation, and Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, and will give companies an opportunity to learn more about the growing wind energy market in Quebec, Canada and the United States. The workshop will offer an overview of the requirements with which companies must comply to become part of Quebec’s wind energy supply chain and will offer excellent networking opportunities.

Speakers attending the workshop will be international, Canadian and Québécois leaders in the following fields:

  • Manufacturing of wind turbines and wind turbine components;
  • Development of wind energy projects; and
  • Wind farm construction and installation companies; wind energy consultation services.

Who should participate?
