Wind and First Nations Seminar
CanWEA WIND MATTERS 2008
Wind and First Nations Seminar
May 15-16 2008
Crowne Plaza Hotel
Ottawa, Ontario

This 1½ day event will explore a path forward
in the development of utility-scale wind energy projects on
First Nations lands and with First Nations people across Canada.
This practically-oriented workshop will look at the nature
of the relationship between developers, governments and First
Nations across Canada, and explore the social, economic and
policy issues that will influence the growth of wind on First
Nations lands: What is the duty to consult? What does experience
tell us about developing energy projects on First Nations
lands? What are the legal and regulatory issues in various
jurisdictions? Participants will learn about the perspectives
and priorities of each stakeholder and examine ways of collaborating
to the benefit of all.
