Join us at CanWEA’s Annual Awards Banquet for an entertaining evening of wind, wine and great food.
 
Each year, CanWEA presents four awards to recognize organizations and individuals who have worked tirelessly to advance the Canadian wind energy industry. These four awards are presented in the following categories: Group Leadership, Individual Leadership, R.J. Templin and Friend of Wind. Peter Robinson, the CEO of the David Suzuki Foundation, will be the guest speaker for the evening. This is an event you won’t want to miss!

 

Peter Robinson, CEO, David Suzuki Foundation 

Peter Robinson
Peter Robinson is the Chief Executive Officer of the David Suzuki Foundation. He brings to this position a diverse background spanning four decades in business, government and the not-for-profit sectors.

Immediately prior to his appointment as CEO of the David Suzuki Foundation, he was the CEO of Mountain Equipment Co-op, the country’s largest outdoor equipment retailer.  During his seven year career at MEC, he led the organization through a period of sustained sales and membership growth across Canada.

Since joining the David Suzuki Foundation, Peter has also been appointed a member of the Province of British Columbia’s Climate Action Team and the Ontario Premier’s Climate Change Advisory Panel. 

Peter holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, as well as diplomas in Community Economic Development and Fish & Wildlife Management.

Poster Reception

The poster session is an excellent forum for authors and conference attendees to discuss interesting, innovative work or on-going research. Authors will be on site to engage in one-on-one discussions. 70+ posters will be available for viewing for the duration of the exhibition.

Opening Reception

Be sure to join us for the Official Opening of the 26th Annual Exhibition. We are bringing out the hors d’oeuvres and providing food stations throughout the hall to help make the evening a relaxed social event, one where you will have time to enjoy a cocktail while you network with some of the 250+ wind energy companies on the exhibit floor.

Wind tower section displayed outdoor at CanWEA 2010

MONDAY NOV 1, 10:45AM AND 3:00PM

Canadian Pacific in collaboration with Vectora Transportation LLC is pleased to announce that they will be hosting an outdoor display at the CANWEA 2010
Annual Conference in Montreal on November 01, 2010.

The display will be comprised of a wind turbine tower section, which is over 98 feet in length, 11 feet wide in diameter at the base, and weighs over 65,000 lbs, loaded and secured to a railcar that Canadian Pacific has specifically modified to safely transport wind tower sections.

Viewings will be open exclusively to CANWEA 2010 conference attendees at 10:45am and 3:00pm on November 01. A meeting place will be announced at the conference and interested participants will be shuttled over to the display.

3rd Annual Women of Wind Energy Tea at the CanWEA Conference

Join an anticipated 100 professionals at the 3rd Annual Women of Wind Energy Tea at the CanWEA Conference, a networking opportunity for women working in the wind sector and their supporters. This free event features presentations by women working in the field discussing their perspectives on the wind power market in Quebec and internationally, and information about the programs and service available through WoWE. Over 100 participants are expected at this fun and friendly professional event. Tea and treats will be served!
