VOLUNTEERS

CanWEA is seeking volunteers to complete various tasks at this year’s conference. Please see below for a description of the volunteer responsibilities.
OPENING RECEPTION ROOM MONITORS – 4 volunteers for Sunday, September 20th, 2009, CanWEA Conference and Exhibition Opening Reception from 6:00 PM – 10 PM.
Duties to include policing the entrance to the Exhibition to confirm only registered delegates, exhibitors and CanWEA staff are admitted.
SESSION ROOM MONITORS – 6 volunteers per shift for 2.5 days. Shifts will begin at 8:00 AM each day from Monday to Wednesday.
The AM shift will be from 8:00 AM to noon each day. The PM shift will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 5:00 PM each day. Duties to include policing the entrance to each session room to allow admittance to only registered delegates. To attend each session in the room to monitor the comfort of the delegates re: too hot, too cool etc. and to notify a CanWEA staff member if the temperature needs adjusting. Room monitors may also be asked to coordinate room lighting with audio visual technical staff. Breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch provided each day.
SMALL WIND SESSION ROOM MONITORS – 2 volunteers for Sunday, September 20th, 2009
The shift will begin at noon and end at 5:00 PM. Duties to include assisting with Small Wind Session registration, handing out programs, answering inquiries and policing the entrance to the session to confirm only registered delegates and CanWEA staff are admitted.
EXHIBIT HALL MONITORS – 8 volunteers per shift for 2.5 days.
The AM shift will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 1:30 PM Monday and Tuesday. The PM shift will begin at 1:30 PM and end at 6:30 PM Sunday to Tuesday. Duties to include policing the entrance to the exhibition hall to confirm only registered delegates, exhibitors and CanWEA staff are admitted. Breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch provided each day.
OFFICIAL GREETERS AND INFORMATION – 8 volunteers per shift for the full conference including Sunday, September 20th, 2009 Opening Reception.
There will be 2 shifts on Sunday, September 20th, one from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and the second from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Weekday shifts begin at 7:00 AM each day from Monday to Wednesday. The AM shift will be from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM each day. The PM shift will begin at 12:30 PM and end at 6:30 PM each day. Duties may vary but will include the following: providing general directions to delegates, handing out Exhibition programs, handing out delegate bags at the registration area, handing out CanWEA Conference programs. Breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch provided each day.
POSTER SET-UP – 1 volunteer for Sunday, September 20th, 2009
The shift will begin at 10:00am and will end at 1:00pm. Responsibilities will be to greet the people who will be setting up posters at the conference and to assist them in displaying their posters at a specific location.
BENEFITS
Volunteers working for a half day will benefit from a free half day admission to the conference sessions and tradeshow. The admission date must be the same date that the volunteer has worked for CanWEA except in the case of a Sunday “opening reception” volunteer. These persons may request a ½ day admission for any of the three days, Monday to Wednesday. Please note that by volunteering for a full day, volunteers may be provided with a free day admission to the conference sessions and Exhibition. The volunteer must indicate to the volunteer coordinator which date that he or she will attend the conference as a delegate.
Admission will not be provided to those members wishing to volunteer for a few hours.
