Purpose
Operate and maintain the sites to optimize wind generation availability and performance through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety and environment compliance.

O&M Wind Site Manager

Hourly – Non-Exempt

Job Functions
Essential Functions

Facilitate and implement all daily work as the site team leader including producing daily, weekly and monthly reports.

Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures as a means of doing business daily.

Demonstrate work planning skills, activity scheduling and follow up to assure work conformance.

Demonstrate the consistent use of Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques when solving plant abnormalities and equipment failures.

Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other's ideas and viewpoints, earning trust among cohorts and direct reports, and resolving team conflict situations.

Develop a team with proficiency in all craft disciplines: electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and controls.

Demonstrate procedural compliance in all site operation and maintenance activities by utilizing established procedures.

Actively participate in the behavior-based safety program and ensure every team member complies with all safety procedures and applicable task-oriented job safety analyses.

Heighten safety awareness through job pre-briefs as the standard.

Implement the System Expert program and become a subject matter expert in assigned individual and team systems.

Adhere to the work management process that will enable plant personnel to describe a problem, provide instructions, identify safety concerns, determine priority, assign the task and document corrective actions and/or root cause failure analysis countermeasures implemented.

Accountable to immediate supervisor for ensuring adherence to the Plant's Environmental Compliance Assurance Plan (CAP), taking all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance. Shall immediately report to supervisor any known or suspected violations to the CAP or any suspected situation that could lead to a violation.

Conduct predictive maintenance, i.e. vibration analysis, thermography, lube oil sampling for analysis, component inspections.

Operate equipment and perform repairs as needed, maintaining site equipment at the highest possible standard maximizing availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability.

Assist in developing procedures and logs/records to track operating and maintenance history of all plant equipment. Maintain and review such records and report findings as required.

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Recommend operating and/or maintenance changes that will enhance plant performance and availability.

Assist with routine maintenance training and equipment operation training of other sites employees.

Responsible for spare parts inventory.

Working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements

Coordinate work activities of vendor and/or subcontractor personnel when required.

Comply with all contractual obligations impacting plant operation.

Coordinate wind power scheduling and dispatch as required

Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the site in a clean and neat condition.

Perform all duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.

Perform duties of Site O&M Manager in his absence

Maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.

Other Functions - Special Skills
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate and maintain the site, as well as the ability to analyze complex problems under the pressure of emergency conditions.

Must have demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively. Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Demonstrated ability to work and support teams as both a leader and participating member.

Shall be a leader in the area of safety, upholding safety as a core value.

Must be able to achieve competent technical abilities in one of the following crafts: Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Electrician, or Instrument & Control Technician.

Correlating experience listed below:
Rotating equipment predictive maintenance.

Preventive and corrective maintenance of hydraulic and lube oil systems, pumps, gearboxes, and generators.

Coupling alignment of rotating equipment.

Effective use of diagnostic equipment.

Troubleshoot/repair and perform preventive maintenance on substations, electrical control circuits, motors, transformers, high voltage breakers and collection lines..

Be proficient in using Vestas On Line or other similar WTG control and monitoring systems.

Be proficient in the operations and troubleshoot/correct SCADA systems.

Be proficient in the operations and troubleshooting/correct control system problems. Interpret control logic and tune as required.

Operate a computer terminal utilizing word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.

Valid driver's license required.

Requirements
Essential Physical Abilities

Overtime, some travel and standby status are required.

Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of equipment, accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges (must have eyesight corrected to 20/40), and communicate clearly on portable radios.

Work flexible work schedule and ability to respond to site emergencies 24 hours; 7 days week.

Ability to perform demanding work at heights under adverse conditions and when participating in emergency activities.

Ability to climb ladders and work in heights > 250 feet; enter confined spaces as required to complete assigned task.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. of weight.

Ability to perform first aid and CPR.

Must possess valid driver license

Education / Experience
A.A.S in a technical degree program or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 years experience in WTG site, Power plant or manufacturing or mining operations and maintenance

Start up commissioning experience preferred.

Qualified craft journeyman.
