Primary Focus

Responsible for leading the development of Enbridge's wind energy strategy and long range plan, and directing the development, evaluation, negotiation, acquisition and implementation of wind generation investments. Investment targets include individual projects up to $500 million and an investment program of $1.5 billion over the next five years. Acquisition targets may include individual projects or corporate enterprises.  

 

Responsibilities

Lead the development, acquisition and implementation of wind generation investments, typically ranging between $150 million and $500 million for individual investments and $1.5 billion over the next five years.

Lead the development of Enbridge's wind energy strategy, business plan and long-range plan.
Lead the evaluation and acquisition of potential corporate acquisitions involving wind projects. 

Prepare recommendation memoranda and deliver presentations to Senior Management, Executive and the Board.

Direct or lead complex commercial structuring and negotiations for projects, corporate acquisitions, strategic partners, equipment suppliers (e.g. wind turbines) and services (e.g. engineering, procurement and construction).

Direct the economic analysis and risk assessment for wind generation projects and investment opportunities.

Direct or lead negotiations with government, regulatory and energy market stakeholders on critical issues impacting the long-term viability of wind energy investments.

Direct due diligence activities for multiple, concurrent investment opportunities including technical, legal, regulatory, tax, finance and economic evaluation.

Coordinate with Senior Director, Power Generation Business Development; Director, Power Generation Operations and Director, Commercial and Finance to evaluate and manage operational and financial risks and synergies.

 

Qualifications

University degree in business, engineering or sciences, preferably complemented by an MBA or CFA 

12 - 15 years of business development or acquisitions experience in the power generation industry, particularly wind power generation.

Experience with development, construction management or operations management of renewable generation.

Comprehensive understanding of North American electricity markets.

Strong commercial structuring, communications, financial and negotiating skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and execute effectively in a team environment.
